Front of House Apprentice - Castle Dairy Restaurant

The award winning Castle Dairy Restaurant is looking to recruit a Front of House Apprentice.  You will receive on-the-job training and coaching with plenty of variety at this award-winning restaurant and art gallery (www.castledairy.co.uk) and would gain your Level 2 and 3 qualifications.  This is an apprenticeship for 12 to 15 months.

An apprenticeship is ideal for those aged 16 – 18, 19 – 23 or 24 + looking to gain a professional qualification whilst gathering quality experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pay Band: Age Appropriate National Minimum Wage

JOB PURPOSE

  • To ensure excellent food service delivery to all guests at Castle Dairy and College
  • To demonstrate and maintain excellent standards of presentation
  • To ensure the fabric of the building is maintained to highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene and comfort
  • To ensure the restaurant is set and presentable ready for all services
  • To ensure the weekly cleaning and job list is completed every week
  • To assist the kitchen with any additional duties on a daily basis
  • To work as part of the front of house team on all evening services and provide a high quality of service

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • To help establish the Castle Dairy as the premiere hospitality venue in Kendal
  • Keep crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc. clean and stored correctly
  • Keep “back of house” areas clean and well organised
  • To ensure a high standard of presentation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current legislation, health & safety and food hygiene
  • Contribute to marketing and promotional activities
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene in all areas where food and drink is served and prepared
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules
  • Ensure a high level of customer care at all times
  • To work as part of a team to contribute and implement creative ideas to evolve the business
  • Be actively involved in the organisation’s continuous improvement culture
  • Participate in cross College events and other marketing activities
  • Work within Health & Safety guidelines and be aware of your responsibilities for health and safety
  • Work and assist the kitchen department (where required)
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Work flexibly to meet College requirements including on occasion working in other departments as directed by your line manager.  This requirement is likely to be particularly relevant during holiday periods
  • Comply with all College policies and procedures.  Within these boundaries, staff are expected to use initiative to resolve problems and address issues
  • Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to your area of work are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post
