Kendal College Students Construct Santa’s Sleigh
Kendal College Level 1 & 2 Brickwork students have been busy in their workshop building a sleigh for Santa in time for Christmas, made entirely out of bricks and mortar.
Sharna Beech, 17 from Holme near Carnforth, encouraged fellow students to get into the Christmas spirit and persuaded her tutor to let them construct a replica of Santa’s sleigh.
Sharna, a Level 2 full time Brickwork student at Kendal College, said: “I thought it would be a fun idea to create a sleigh using our brickwork skills and jokingly mentioned it to my tutor. He thought that it would be a fun way to finish off the term and have us all working together as a team.”
Richard Blacker, Brickwork Lecturer at Kendal College, said: “I always encourage my students to be creative and this project is no exception. Sharna is an excellent team player. She ensured that everyone got involved and it was great to see such enthusiasm for the project”.
A team of ten students worked on the project for three days, using over three hundred bricks, concrete blocks and flags to create the model.
