Lecturer Motor Vehicle

Kendal College is able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Lecturer Motor Vehicles to join our highly renowned Motor Vehicle department. As a knowledgeable and passionate Lecturer, the successful candidate will be able to utilise their knowledge and experience to deliver informative and engaging lessons for our students. As a Lecturer, you will utilise your passion for the subject to assist our students in exciting projects such as renovating classic cars and building racing bikes.

£24,120 to £30,559 || Full-Time equivalent depending upon qualifications and experience.

Part-Time: 0.4 FTE (8.5 teaching hours per week) || Temporary

Specific Working Hours

Tuesdays: 1300 - 1600
Wednesdays: 0915 - 1430

Summary of Responsibilities

  • To develop a stimulating an exciting programme for learners.
  • To manage and provide good quality teaching and learning to support student achievement.
  • To seek to ensure that student retention and achievement targets are met.
  • To contribute towards the College’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn. 
  • Ensure a high quality of adequate resources and materials are provided to enhance learning, thereby enriching the opportunity and experience of learners.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Attributes Essential Desirable

• Level 3 Vocational qualification in a related area
• English and Maths at Level 2  (GCSE A* to C or equivalent)
• Basic Health and Safety qualification

• Level 4 Vocational Qualification in a related area
• First Aid Qualification
• Intermediate Health and Safety
• Teaching, assessing or training qualification


• Recent experience of working in relevant industrial/commercial environments for a period of at least 3 years

• Experience in a learning environment

Knowledge & Skills 

• Effective communication skills
• Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in the relevant vocational environment
• Ability to provide coaching and support to learners
• Strong current technical knowledge and skills in motor vehicle
• Motivation and enthusiasm for working with 14 to 19 year olds

• Knowledge of health and safety in an educational environment
• Knowledge of how to develop learners’ skills
